MY SIXTH POLL: "THE CENTER OF THE STAGE IS WHERE I AM"

I haven't been updating my blog lately, because I'm still suffering from a cold. I will try to write more when I get well.

My fifth poll got 11 votes and the result of this poll of hysterical heroines is:

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER OR PERFORMER?

1.Emily Watson in BREAKING THE WAVES (1996, Lars von Trier) +
Isabelle Adjani in POSSESSION (1981, Andrzej Zulawski) +
Bulle Ogier in THE SALAMANDER (1971, Alain Tanner)

Each of them got 2 votes or 18 %

4.Margit Carstensen in BREMEN FREEDOM (1972, Rainer Werner Fassbinder) +
Adrienne Barrett in DEMENTIA (1953, John Parker) +
Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi in FORGET ME (1994, Noemie Lvovsky) +
Marina de Van in IN MY SKIN (2002, Marina de Van) +
Monica Vitti in THE RED DESERT (1964, Michelangelo Antonioni)

Each of them got 1 vote or 9 %

9.Beatrice Dalle in BETTY BLUE (1986, Jean-Jacques Beineix) +
Jessica Lange in FRANCES (1982, Graeme Clifford)

Each of them got 0 vote.

Thank you very much for everyone who participated in the poll. :-)

I'm glad Bulle Ogier is one of the top three in this poll. I like her very much. Of course, you know from my name—Celinejulie—that I should love Bulle Ogier, who stars in CELINE AND JULIE GO BOATING. You can read a comment on Bulle Ogier here:

5. CANDY MOUNTAIN (1988, Robert Frank + Rudy Wurlitzer)

--------------------------

As for my sixth poll, it is inspired by the film I saw last week – LA PURITAINE (1986, Jacques Doillon, A+), which uses theatre or stage performance in a very interesting way. So my sixth poll is about the list of my favorite films about stage performance.

THESE FILMS HAVE SOMETHING CONCERNING STAGE PERFORMANCE. WHICH FILM DO YOU LIKE?

--You can cast multiple votes.

--I love all these 15 films very much. Each of them is great in their own ways. It's hard to choose which film is my most favorite. So I choose to vote for DIVERTIMENTO, THE FALSE SERVANT, and THE PEACH BLOSSOM LAND, because I think each one uses stage performance in a very interesting way.

--The quote "The center of the stage is where I am" above comes from Martha Graham. You can read the DVD review of MARTHA GRAHAM: DANCE ON FILM by Jesse at:
