SO MANY MEN, HOW CAN I CHOOSE?

My poll 42 ended with 9 votes. Thanks very much to everyone who participated in it. Here is the result:

THESE FILMS CONCERN HANDSOME MEN WHO ARE BAD OR EVIL. WHICH FILMS DO YOU LIKE? OR WHICH MEN DO YOU WANT?

1.Edison Chen in INFERNAL AFFAIRS 2 (2003, Andrew Lau + Alan Mak, Hong Kong)
+Ralph Fiennes in SCHINDLER’S LIST (1993, Steven Spielberg, USA)
+Hayden Christensen in SHATTERED GLASS (2003, Billy Ray, USA)
+Marlon Brando in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (1951, Elia Kazan, USA)

Each of these films got 3 votes, or 33 %.

5.Fedja van Huet in AMNESIA (2001, Martin Koolhoven, Netherlands)
+Jean-Claude Brialy in LES COUSINS (1959, Claude Chabrol, France)
+Lawrence Ng (อู๋ฉี่หัว) in THE GRAND CANAL (ศึกลำน้ำเลือด) (1987, Hong Kong TV series)
+Jeremy Piven in SMOKIN’ ACES (2006, Joe Carnahan, USA)

Each of these films got 2 votes, or 22 %.

9.William McNamara in COPYCAT (1995, Jon Amiel, USA)
+Sid Lucero in DRUMBEAT (2008, Adolfo Alix Jr., Philippines)
+Aaron Eckhart in IN THE COMPANY OF MEN (1997, Neil LaBute, USA)
+Gian Maria Volonte in INVESTIGATION OF A CITIZEN ABOVE SUSPICION (1970, Elio Petri, Italy)
+Andreas Wisniewski in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987, John Glen, UK)
+Nathakorn Kongsib in SIYAMA (2008, Preecha Songsakul, Thailand)
+Marc Barbe in SOMBRE (1998, Philippe Grandrieux, France)
+Thomas Kretschmann in THE STENDHAL SYNDROME (1996, Dario Argento, Italy)
+Luis Alandy in TULI (2005, Auraeus Solito, Philippines)
+Hinnerk Schoenemann in YELLA (2007, Christian Petzold, Germany)

Each of these films got 1 votes, or 11 %.

19.Gregoire Colin in THE DREAMLIFE OF ANGELS (1998, Erick Zonca, France)
+Aaron Kwok in SAVIOUR OF THE SOUL (1991, David Lai + Corey Yuen, Hong Kong)

Each of these films got 0 vote.

--It’s strange to see that Gregoire Colin and Aaron Kwok got 0 vote, because I think they are very handsome actors. Aaron Kwok still looks handsome now, but Gregoire Colin is a real serious actor who seems not to worry too much about his looks. He looks absolutely gorgeous in BEAU TRAVAIL, but he looks convincingly demented in A SIGHT FOR SORE EYES (2003, Gilles Bourdos). His credible acting as a deranged guy in that film helps me stop yearning for him.

--I don’t actually extremely love Edison Chen or INFERNAL AFFAIRS 2 (A-), but I include the film in this list, because the inspiration for this poll is Abhisit, the prime minister of Thailand. So I want my poll to include handsome villains who are clever or schematic, such as the ones in INFERNAL AFFAIRS 2, SHATTERED GLASS, THE GRAND CANAL, and INVESTIGATION OF A CITIZEN ABOVE SUSPICION. I think the villains in these four films can remind us of bad politicians more than handsome villains who are serial killers.

--I’m glad that someone vote for Jean-Claude Brialy and Jeremy Piven, or vote for the films they star in. I like their looks very much. I just noticed that Brialy also stars in PARIS BELONGS TO US (1960, Jacques Rivette, A+). I didn’t recognize him when I watched the film.

--The role of Marlon Brando in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE is a very sexy role. The actor who plays this role has to be able to exude sensuality from his body. Marlon Brando is perfect for the job. Alec Baldwin is just fine as Stanley Kowalski in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (1995, Glenn Jordan, A-). I think Worawut Niyomsub did a good job too when he played the same role in AN ALLEY CALLED DESIRE, B.E. 2500, which is the Thai version of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE.

The actor whom I think would be great in this role is Clovis Cornillac.

--Another handsome villain whom I like very much is James Purefoy in RESIDENT EVIL (2002, Paul W.S. Anderson).
