--I think I can separate the twenty films above into two main groups. The first group is films which are “informative” or films which do a great job of informing the audience about the filmmakers who are the subject of the films. The second group is films which are “much more than informative”, or films which can create a powerful emotional effect of their own, instead of just giving the audience useful information.

Films which belong to the second group include CHANTAL AKERMAN PAR CHANTAL AKERMAN, CINEMA DREAM TOKYO DREAM, HUNT ANGELS, JLG/JLG – SELF-PORTRAIT IN DECEMBER, THE LAST BOLSHEVIK, THE NAME OF A RIVER, and PHOENIX TAPES.
